Creating a variety of accessible formats for TfL’s Accesible Travel in London guide: Easy Read, Braille, British Sign Language video, spoken word audio and an audio CD

The different formats we produced for TfL’s Accessible Travel in London

Easy Read leaflet - print ready, web optimised and accessible PDF

We co-produced the Easy Read version of Accessible Travel in London in a workshop with IC Works experts.

Once the text and images were signed off we created a designed version which was available as:

  • a web-optimised file, so easy to download from the TfL website

  • a print-ready file, so the leaflet could be professionally printed.

  • an accessible PDF which can be read by anyone using a screen reader.

Braille documents and audio CD

Working with The Arthouse in Wakefield we produced several Braille document copies of the Accessible Travel in London guide.

We edited the original mp3 file into 12 files for each section of the guide, equating to separate tracks on the CD.

Then, we worked with our excellent designer, Derya of Lingual Design, to create a CD booklet for the audio CD version of the guide.

The mp3s and designed files were sent to MTS Duplication, who did a fine job on the audio CD.

BSL version of Accessible Travel in London

British Sign Language video and spoken word audio

Our partner, the Royal Association for Deaf People (RAD) produced a BSL video using the original text of the Accessible Travel in London guide.

The video was provided as an mp4 file and uploaded to TfL’s Youtube channel.

RAD also created a spoken word audio version of the guide, which was provided as an optimised mp3 file.
